There are 250 women being treated for breast cancer who will have their tumours genetically analysed at Cancer Research Institute, to help tailor their treatment.
Research has already identified at least 10 types of breast cancer, which respond differently to treatments.
Its hope the project will find the best treatment for each genetic pattern, eventually leading to more personalised treatment.
